URCUNINAS - Le souffle de la terre

URCUNINAS – The breath of the earth

Three volcanoes in the Colombian Andes serve as the anchor points for this research: Galeras, Cumbal, Azufral, and Chaitán. The ascent becomes an act of listening. Listening to the untamed flora, capable of growing in extreme conditions; to the steep rocks, the magmatic scree saturated with sulfur, transformed by fumaroles; and finally to the colors and mists that shape these unstable territories.

The experience engages a different way of inhabiting the world. The volcano, matrix of the earth and engine of transformation, acts as a medium to a “time before,” where the boundaries between humans and living beings become blurred.

Three videos are presented, including El gran Chaitán, a fiction inspired by pre-Columbian imaginations. Drawings, photographs, and installations extend this immersion and reveal the sensitive issues at stake in the journey.

Films co-produced by Bombyx and the Ministry of Culture of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.
